Comparing Apples to Apples

I know I've said this over and over, but I can't stress how important it is to make sure you are comparing the SAME THINGS when comparing vendor quotes. Don't just look at the bottom line price, but look at what you are GETTING for that price! It's so true when they say, "You get what you pay for".

For example, take a floral quote...what is included in the bride's bouquet? Make sure the TYPE of flowers are the same, as well as the QUANTITY of flowers included in the bouquets and/or arrangements. What do the boutonnieres consist of? How many are you ordering? What are the setup and delivery fees? Do the quotes include the centerpiece glassware or not? These are all things that need to be considered. If it's not specified in the quote, ASK!

How about your photographer? Are you getting prints with your package? You may just want a CD consisting of all your pictures and get them printed elsewhere. Most photographers today do offer that option, but there are some who do not. Some feel that it compromises their reputation if you take their photos and have them printed at Walgreens. You should also check to see if there is a specified time limit that the photographers are available to you on your day and if it is written in the quotes. You don't want them leaving before you cut your cake, so again, if you're not sure, ASK!

While many people are cost-conscious these days, it is still important to know exactly what you are getting for the price and if it would be worth it to pay a little more for exactly what you want. Try to avoid any confusion by clearing all these things up BEFORE you sign the contracts. And if you're still not sure, HIRE US! =)
