Congratulations on your engagement! How exciting!
Now what?
If you're like most, you have not planned a wedding before. Lucky for you...WE HAVE! So keep reading...
BUDGET: The first thing you want to do is decide on a a budget...AND STICK TO IT! Figure out who will be involved in the finances and what you can afford. Sticking to your budget is important because you don't want to start off your marriage and new life together in debt! Decide what's most important to you about your wedding. The photography? Food? Entertainment? Whatever it may be, put a good portion of your money there and cut back on the rest.
PLAN EARLY: The earlier you plan, the better chance you have of getting absolutely everything you want (date, venue, photographer, entertainment, etc.). The average length of an engagement is 16 months. This should be plenty of time to secure your first choices, unless a certain something is particularly popular.
VENUE: The venue sets the stage for the wedding. To me, it decides the theme of the event. Whether it's on the beach, a farm, a castle, or a grand ballroom, the rest of the plans seem to fall into place once the venue is chosen.
DATE: There may be a particular date that is special to you, but until you find a venue with that date available, it's not set in stone. Before you book anything else, and I mean ANYTHING, make sure you have the date and the venue (along with the church if applicable) confirmed. You don't want to sign a contract with your vendors for a certain date only to find you can't secure a venue for that date.
I know that may all seem overwhelming to you right now, but trust me, it all falls into place. We are always happy to sit and chat with you about your wedding plans and help in any way we can.
Happy planning!
