We know you're excited for your friend at this time, but remember that she is going to become overwhelmed with everyone's opinions and questions. She needs her closest friends to help her through this without the additional stress. Here is a list of dos and don'ts to keep you girls on track!
DO
- Help out with appointments to venues, tastings, dress shopping etc. with the wedding planner
- Take notes while you're there for the bride so she can focus on what she is being told
- Offer to drive so she is able to see the surrounding area and focus on how to get there, etc.
- Keep in contact with the wedding planner with her
- Reduces "middle man" miscommunication
- Keeps you involved in the process
- She will be able to ask advice or you to do a certain task without her having to explain
- Help reduce her feeling stressed or overwhelmed
- Suggest casually going to lunch to talk about venues, flowers, DJs, etc.
- Keep her calm (remember: YOU know her best, so if she gets frantic you know the best methods to calm her)
- Demand to look at a venue, catering company, florist, etc. that she is not interested in
- This isn't your wedding; the bride gets what the bride wants
- Try suggesting some place or idea nicely and have research to prove your point to her
- Take over when talking to the wedding planner
- Again, this isn't your wedding; you are still able to ask questions, but wait until after the meeting to cover things you don't understand
- Trust the wedding planner (they KNOW what they're doing)
- Get upset with the bride
- She is overwhelmed as it is and she needs your support
- Try sitting her down and talk about the issue maturely and calmly
- She may not even realize what she's doing wrong
