Two parties I attended this weekend had some sort of food delivered via truck. The first was my son's 2nd birthday party that I planned and reserved a local ice cream truck to come by for a visit. This was probably the original "food truck", in my opinion.
I then attended a 60th birthday party for my husband's aunt. They hired Spuds Your Way, a food truck that not only catered to loaded baked potatoes, but also hotdogs, hamburgers and so much more. Delicious!
I started thinking about it and food trucks have been all the craze lately. Last summer, one of my bridal couples hired an ice cream truck to visit their guests after their park ceremony as a cool treat before cocktail hour. The guests loved it!
The Big Green Pizza Truck (and others like it) is a big hit as well. In fact, another party that I was invited to but couldn't attend this weekend hired the pizza truck.
Here are some other great ideas for food on wheels...

These trucks are not only a growing trend at casual events like birthdays and picnics, but also weddings! If you have the right venue, a food truck can be a fun way to cater your wedding. I worked at the Carousel at Lighthouse Point last year and the couple hired a pizza truck to cater. This is the perfect type of venue for this kind of catering.
The way most of these food trucks work is that you pay a set price up to a certain amount of people for a set amount of hours at the event. Some even offer add-ons like dessert, coffee, etc. And the best part....no mess to clean up after! They prep, cook, serve, and clean. Some even provide paper plates and utensils. Less work for you! Of course, keep in mind that if you do decide to have one of these trucks come to your event, be prepared to pay the tab. Your guests don't expect to come to your event and have to pay for their food.
Happy planning!
