Social Media and Weddings
Everyone has heard of Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and most brides now have a Pinterest account. A growing trend that can now coming around is influence of social media in the wedding. It isn't uncommon to now see signs at a wedding where brides and grooms have created custom hash tags to say "If you Instagram... #couples name/wedding".
There have even been moments that newly wedded couples gather people around for the changing of the Facebook statuses. Here is a video of one couple at the alter changing their status:
What is so great about the involvement of social media is that instead of waiting weeks for pictures Instagram, twitter and even Facebook let brides and grooms see all their hard work from their guest perspective usually with their comments.
Social Media Etiquette
1. Don’t post photos of the wedding before the bride posts her photos. This was her big day and no one should step ahead of the bride in this act.
2. Don’t get in the way of the photographer/videographer the couple is spending good money on.
3. Silence your phone from all Facebook posts, tweets or updates during the ceremony.
4. Post only happy and positive things about the wedding especially if the bride can see it. Couples put a lot of hard work into their big day.
5. Focus on the couple during the ceremony not your phone or other’s tweets. The couple took the time to invite you to be a part of the moment they did not invite you to have you be glued to your phone.
