My First Jewish Wedding!

I was so honored to have coordinated my first Jewish wedding over Memorial Day weekend. Clara and Alex Salzberg were wed on Sunday May 30th at Wesleyan University, where they met. They currently reside in Baltimore, MD, as does Alex's family. Clara's family is from NJ, so almost all of the guests were from out of state.

The pre-ceremony festivities began with the groom's Tish. This is basically when all the male guests gathered around the groom and toast to him and sing. This was done with a nice bottle of Scotch inside the Davidson Art Center.

Next came the Bedecken. This was held on the Labyrinth outside Davidson Art Center. Friends and family lead the groom to his bride and this is when the bride's veiling occurs. Alex placed Clara's veil over her face and they signed the Ketubah, the legal binding marriage agreement. They then lined up for the formal huppah ceremony.

Finally, Alex and Clara walked down the aisle, each with their parents escorting them. The ceremony was very nice and was held in the courtyard outside the Davidson Art Center. CR Socials helped setup pompander balls next to the chairs that were setup, the programs, the Ketubah, the kipoh's, and the wine and wine glasses.

The cocktail hour took place inside and outside of Usdan Hall. We decorated the tables with lantern candles and cards that had their 2 special drink recipes on them. During this time, Clara & Alex went off with the photographer to take formal pictures together.

Now, on to the reception. It took place inside Beckham Hall, which was beautiful to begin with, but we made it a little extra beautiful. We were given plants and flowers to put on the table as centerpieces and surrounding decorations, tealights, and benchers (prayer books). The room looked fantastic!

Right outside of Beckham Hall we set up the placecards which doubled as favors: jars of Grandma Penny's Meyer Lemon Marmalade! Yum!

We had a great time with this wedding and hope they enjoyed having us!
